Description: This very traditional and beautiful German beer stein stein was produced by Villeroy and Boch in Mettlach over 120 years ago. The exceptionally crafted ceramics art object consits of tan clay body with applied blue background and white relief figures – a very complexs and labor intensive technique. The stein’s theme is a lively drinking festival with tavern scenes and characters of whimsical nature. The stein is fully marked at the bottom with Mettlach Tower mark and mold number 22249. There is a date mark 97 indicating the stein was made in 1897. Good pewter lid with ceramics inlay. Very nice and beautiful antique beer drinking vessel! The stein is in excellent condition – no chips, breaks or repairs, clean interior. It is standing 6.5 tall, 0.3 L capacity. Maker: Mettlach/Villeroy and Boch. Height: 6.5 in.
